Obituary
MADISON-Raymond “Ray” Wirsbinski passed away on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at the age of 87 years, one month and seven days. Ray was born on July 15, 1924, in Mosinee, the son of David and Edith (Beebe) Wirsbinski. He spent his childhood in the Mosinee area. Ray grew up splitting time between his parents’ home and the Beebe family farm. He attended Mosinee High School, graduating in 1942. During World War II, he enlisted in the U. S. Army, but was given honorary discharge after only a few months due to a physical problem with his hearing. In his return to Wisconsin, Ray enrolled at the University of Wisconsin, where he also met his future wife, during sophomore English. Ray graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from UW-Madison on June 19, 1948. A week later, on June 25, 1948, he married Lorian Day at Luther Memorial Church in Madison, a marriage that was blessed with the gift of two sons and more than 63 years of faithful love. During his lifetime, Ray worked for a paper company in Neenah and for A.O. Smith in Milwaukee. In 1959, the young family returned to Madison where Ray became business manager of residence halls for UW-Madison. While this was initially a temporary position, it became his life’s work, the work he did for nearly 40 years. He is survived by his wife, Lorian; sons, James (Lynne), and Gary (Elaine), all of Madison; and grandchildren, Loren Wirsbinski (Audrey Arentson), Christine (Clint) Acker, Sara Wirsbinski and Danielle Wirsbinski. Funeral services will be held at LORD OF LOVE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 105 Paradise Circle, DeForest, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, with Pastor Jerry Ewings presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the services on Saturday. Memorials may be made in Raymond’s name to UW Foundation. The family would like to thank the staff at Karmenta for the care given to Raymond.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Ray was such a great guy, and the very first neighbor that welcomed us to the Christianson Ave Block.
I know he wasn't well for awhile and hadn't seen him for some time, so I figured he must have been taking it careful.
My Condolences to all of you in your time of grief.
