SUN PRAIRIE/STOUGHTON-Richard James Roatch, age 85, died on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Tomah. He was born on April 20, 1926, in Webster, the son of Carlton and Dagmar (Lorenzen) Roatch. Richard served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He farmed in Sun Prairie. Richard was a member of the Oregon/Brooklyn American Legion Post. He enjoyed going to the races, family reunions, dancing, Sunday drives, and the simple things in life. Richard would hop in his car and go visit anyone and everyone. He wintered in Louisiana, and also enjoyed Mardi Gras and shrimping. Richard is survived by his 12 children, twin daughters, LeeAnn Wade and Dianne Roatch, both of Madison, Lynette (Ralph) Becerra of Edgerton, Linda Roatch and Richard Roatch, both of Glendale, Calif., Susan Roatch of Fairbanks, Alaska, Betty Voegli of St. Paul, Minn., twin sons, James Roatch of Madison and Joe (Lori) Roatch of Oregon, Timothy Roatch (fiancee, Karen) of St. Paul, Minn., Tom (Linda) Roatch of Sparta, and Teresa (Steve) Patchak of Evansville; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Roatch and Virginia “Ginny” Roatch; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step mother, Dortha Roatch; siblings, Marvin, Ted, Calvin, Lloyd, Gladys Guidry and Martha Schultz; two nieces, Sheri and Ramona; and a nephew, Jeffrey. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites conducted.
