Obituary
Wind, Harold E. MADISON-Harold E. Wind, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at HospiceCare Inc. He was born on April 10, 1920, in Rice Lake, the son of Harry and Elenore (Swenson) Wind. Harold graduated from Madison East High School. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a medic in Australia, Philippines, and New Guinea. Harold married Kathleen Spies in 1945. They were married for 61 years. Harold was a foreman with the Chicago North West Railroad in charge of the Upper Peninsula for more than 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. Harold experienced a very interesting childhood and made sure his children also had a fun childhood. He was fundamental in starting the South Side Hockey Association. Harold enjoyed traveling and golfing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Dennis Wind of Cary, N. C., Donna (John) Schulthess of Cincinnati, Ohio, Richard (Vicki) Wind of Kenosha, Diane (William) Pappas of Madison, and Roger Wind of Madison; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Betty (Ken) Williams and Carolina Larson. Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen in 2006; his parents; and two brothers, Robert and Randall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, with Monsignor Charles Schluter presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, with military rites conducted. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc. or Salvation Army. “To all the ‘boys’ at Angelus, and the staff and volunteers at Hospice, thank you for your care. Your support was very much appreciated by our family.”

Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, with Monsignor Charles Schluter presiding.
