Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE-Elaine (Beaugez) Drengson passed away peacefully in her sleep after an extended illness on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at her home. She was born on Sept. 19, 1925, in Ocean Springs, Miss., to Lillian and Herbert Beaugez. Elaine had many fond memories of growing up on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi with her brothers. Although she spent the majority of her life in Wisconsin, she still considered Mississippi “home.” Elaine met her husband Thomas Drengson when he was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss. during World War II. They were married on Feb. 14, 1943, in Mississippi. After Tom’s discharge from the service, they returned to his hometown of Madison. There, they raised four children and we have many fond memories of growing up on Turner Ave. Elaine was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and most recently her new great-grandson. She was also close to her sister-in-law, Lorraine Nummerdor, who was widowed at a young age. Lorraine’s children, Barbara, Sally, Karen, Larry and Susie were very much a part of her family. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed returning to Ocean Springs to visit her family. Elaine is survived by her four children, Tom (Denise) Drengson, Jim (Terri) Drengson, Rick (Sherry) Drengson, and Linda Lenz; her grandchildren, Jill (Ben) Hahlen, Ryan, Blair and Collin Lenz; her great-grandson, Connor Hahlen; her brothers, Charles (Julie) Beaugez and Herbert (Freda) Beaugez Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom; her parents, Lillian and Herbert Beaugez; her brothers, Gene, Donald and Robert “Chubby” Beaugez; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Nummerdor; Tom’s aunt, Ida Osthoff, with whom she was extremely close; and a special cousin, Joyce Westbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICKS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, with Father John Sasse presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. If desired, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc., Alzheimer’s & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin or one of Mom’s favorite charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We would like to thank her Hospice team for their care of Mom. We also would like to thank her caregivers, Collyn Caffrey and especially her nieces, Barbara Bailey and her daughter, Kristi Hanaman. Extra thanks to Kristi for living with Mom for the last year of her life, allowing her to stay at home. Words cannot express our gratitude for her compassionate care. “We love you Mom and will miss you greatly, but we know you are now at peace with Dad and your other relatives. Goodbye for now until we meet again.” Cemetery: Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PATRICKS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 434 N. Main St., Cottage Grove, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, with Father John Sasse presiding.

This is the first time, I actually watched that video, I, for some reason couldn't bring myself to watch it at the funeral. For me it was very touching. Even though I have been your wife and sister-in-law for over 30 years, I just want you to know your Mom meant everyting to me. My Mom passed away in 1995, since then Elaine was just like my own mother. I Loved her so much. Wish she was still here with us, but as we all know, she is in a better place with your dad and her mother and the rest of her family that has passed. As most of you should know, I am not good at showing my emotions, but this is how I had to let you know. I Love you all, Sherry
