Mary Lou Thomas

Thomas, Mary Lou MONONA- Mary Lou (Rish) Thomas, age 89, of Monona, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at home. She was born on Sept. 23, 1921 in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Robert A. and Lela (Edgar) Rish. She married Charles T. Thomas on Sept. 27, 1941. They owned the Badger Studio on State Street. After they closed the studio, Mary Lou enjoyed 20 years of part-time employment with the Motor Vehicle Department, Prudential Insurance Company, Lakeview Moravian Church, and the East Madison/Monona Coalition. She was a volunteer for several organizations, an active member of First Baptist Church, and a Red Cross Blood donor for many years. Mary Lou is survived by her two sons, Russ (Ruby) Thomas, and Lee (Patricia) Thomas; grandchildren, Ryan (Sarina) Thomas, Renee Thomas, Emma Thomas, and Hannah Thomas; great-granddaughters, Hailey, Averie and Amelia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; and brother, Robert D. Rish. Funeral services will be held at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 518 N. Franklin Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011, with the Rev. Mark Clinger presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to First Baptist Church, American Red Cross, Endangered Species or the charity of your choice.
