Obituary

MADISON-Thomas E. Dirienzo, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 4, 1929 in Madison to Joseph and Frances (Beck) Dirienzo. Thomas attended Central and Edgewood High Schools in Madison and was married to Judy Ann Bergum on November 23, 1966. Tom was previously married to Rose Marie Schuepbach on January 15, 1949. Tom enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and had a love for the outdoors, especially boating. He owned Madison Marine Service and Madison Rebuilding Service. He worked as an outboard boat motor mechanic for over 60 years and had also helped build homes in the Madison area during his early working years. He enjoyed watching sports, particularly UW football and mens basketball, Green Bay Packers football and NASCAR. Tom took joy in sitting on his back porch with his wife and family, quietly appreciating the variety of wildlife, which included deer, wild turkeys, rabbits and cranes. He is survived by his wife Judy, son Joseph (Theresa) Dirienzo, daughters Donna (Keith) Skoug, Karen (Jim) Konecne, Mary Jo (Jerry) Ripp, Elizabeth Kolb, Nancy (Mark) Kooiman, Debbie Dirienzo, Laurie (Lyle) Morris and Dannielle Dirienzo, thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and sisters Margie (Vin) Johnson and Evelyn (Wayne) Havey. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dan Dirienzo, four sisters Rosalynn Dirienzo, Eva Mender, Betty Schlotthauer, Helen Coleman, his firstborn son Thomas Michael Dirienzo, two grandchildren Derek Kooiman and Anthony Dirienzo and one great-granddaughter Josephine Skoug. A Memorial Mass will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield Street, Monona, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Private inurnment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Toms family would like to especially thank Dr. Alan Singer, the staff at St. Marys Cardiac Center and the Dean St. Marys Renal Clinic for their kind and wonderful care over the years. Judy and family, Sorry to read to Tom's (dad's) passing.I remember visiting him at his shop on University Ave. back in the day with Mary Jo...Where does the time go? We will not be able to attend the Memorial Mass but will be thinking of you all. Judy I miss our visits at K-Mart and Donna too. I still see Laurie and enjoyed our dinner with laurie and Karen last winter.Thank God for memories!!!! Tess and Jerry
