Dorothy McDowell

MADISON / BLUE RIVER-Dorothy (Eng) McDowell, age 81, of Madison, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born on April 9, 1930, in Blue River, the daughter of Gus and Lola (Hardy) Eng. She married Keith McDowell on Sept. 16, 1950, in Blue River. Dorothy was a waitress and hostess for many years including Poole’s Northgate Supper Club and The Innkeeper in Waunakee. She and Keith took many wonderful vacations throughout the United States. Dorothy also enjoyed going to casinos. She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Eileen) of Sun Prairie, Timothy of Madison, Penny (Scott) Rasmussen of McFarland, and Becky (John) Voelker of McFarland; grandchildren, Kristi (Craig) Gherke, Craig (friend, Jodi Gissel) McDowell, Bryan, Tanner and Logan Rasmussen, and Ross and Jay Voelker; sisters, Joyce Tisdale of Blue River and Audrey Peterson of Middleton; sisters-in-law, Madonne Eng of Blue River, Wava Miller of Dodgeville, and Wanita (LeRoy) Studnicka of Boscobel; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith; daughter-in-law, Connie; brothers, Bernard and Kenneth; brothers-in-law, Arthur Peterson, Clem Tisdale, Reg Miller, and Arthur Sakaye; and sister-in-law, Wanda McDowell. Funeral services will be held at BLUE RIVER UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 307 W. LaFollette Street, Blue River, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011, with the Rev. Harriett Rowland presiding. Burial will be at Blue River Cemetery. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 15, 2011, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.
