Robert L. Otteson

Otteson, Robert L.STOUGHTON-Robert L. Otteson, age 82, of Stoughton, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2011, in Stoughton. He was born on July 23, 1928, in Stoughton, the son of Sanford and Margaret (Lund) Otteson. Robert attended Stone Grade School in rural Stoughton and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1947. He was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Arlene Anderson, on Nov. 7, 1948 in Stoughton. Robert worked for Viney Dairy Farm in Edgerton, then began farming on his own until he retired at the age of 60. He then worked for Spangler Seed Company in Jefferson where he made many friends. Robert was active in 4-H with his children as a leader. He loved golfing, woodworking, gardening and following the Utica Home Talent Baseball team. Robert is survived by his wife, Arlene; four children, Rene Bain (John Skaar) of Madison, Kay (Jim) Rodgers of Fremont, Sherrie (Paul) Tyler of Stoughton, and Steven (Carol) Otteson of DeForest; eight grandchildren, Chad McClain, Jeff Bain, Ben Schultz, Andy (Stacy) Schultz, Jason Tyler, Kari (Trent) Bettenhausen, Alyssa Otteson and Ashley Otteson; seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Tyce, Tara, Jackson, Mick, Ava, and Willow; brother, Otto Otteson: sister, Nancy (Glenn) Holzhuter; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Jean Otteson. Memorial services will be held at WEST KOSHKONONG LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1911 Koshkonong Rd., Stoughton, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, with Pastor Richard Dowling presiding. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL HOME, 1358 Highway 51, Stoughton, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, and also on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert\'s name to West Koshkonong Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Skaalen Health and Rehabilitation, Harbor House, St. Jude Hospice and Dr. Agni for their care and compassion.
