Obituary
OREGON- Marion L. Shotliff, age 78, died on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Harbor House in Stoughton with family at her side. She was born on May 29, 1933, in Wisconsin Rapids, the daughter of Amos and Mabel (Manke) Brandt. The family later moved to Woodstock, Ill. On July 27, 1957, Marion married Harold Shotliff in Union, Ill. The couple farmed and raised their children in Alden and Richmond, Ill. and Oregon. Along with family, Marion enjoyed her grandchildren and listening to their many adventures and activities, being a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, delivering and serving meals at the Oregon Senior Center, her work at the Sheraton Inn in Madison; singing; and her many cats and kittens. She enjoyed a cup of coffee and talks with neighbors and friends. She especially enjoyed visits from neighbors Ruth Jeschke and Lois Hageman; weekly emails from Donna Behnke; and visits by other close friends helped her feel at peace at her home away from home. Marion is survived by four children, Keith (Sandy) of Oregon, Craig (Pam) of Belmont, Marian Kay (Doug) Viney of Belleville and Laura (Perry) Jorgensen of Brooklyn; 10 grandchildren, Aaron, Brian and Brad Shotliff, Samantha (Rob) Spangler and Sean (Shannon) Shotliff, Matthew, Michael and Benjamin Viney and Emma and Lee Jorgensen; two great-grandchildren, Camdyn and Raegyn; sister, Lois Blazier of Hampshire, Ill.; brother-in-law, Wayne (Clara) Shotliff of Harvard, Ill.; other relatives; and a host of friends and acquaintances. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Mabel; her husband, Harold; brother-in-laws, Arthur Blazier, Glen, Bill and Melvin Shotliff; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Rice.Private services will be held Friday, June 17, 2011 at Storytown Cemetery on Highway A, Oregon, with a public memorial visitation to follow at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harbor House or HospiceCare, or others to be decided at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Skaalen Sunset Home and the staff at Harbor House for their excellent care over the years. And He will raise you up on eagles wings, Bear you on the breath of dawn, Make you to shine like the sun, And hold you in the palm of His hand.
