Mr. Joseph T. DeRungs

WAUNAKEE- Joseph "Tim" DeRungs, age 60, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2011, after battling cancer. He was born Nov. 18, 1950, in Madison, South Dakota. Joseph grew up in Monona, the second oldest of seven children. He graduated from Monona Grove High School in 1969. He served his country in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged in 1977. Joseph bought a home in Westport, where he lived for 34 years. He had two daughters who he adored and loved. He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed cheering for the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. He liked being close to home, and made many good friends with the people in his neighborhood over the years. Joseph is survived by his daughters, Sara and Karisa; his mother, Dorothy; his siblings, Tony, Tom (Sue), David (Michelle), Dick, DeAnn (Gary) Schaefer, and LeAnn; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alphonse. A visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, with military rights to follow.
