Obituary
MADISON-Gwenn Joanne Opsal went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 24, 1934, the daughter of Gunner and Helen (Hestness) Lium. Gwenn was united in marriage to Robert Opsal on May 9, 1969. She worked at the UW- Madison, Air Force ROTC for 29 years before retiring. She loved to dance, spend time at their cottage on Lake Wisconsin, enjoyed traveling and camping. Gwenn was also a talented artist and made beautiful dolls, teddy bears, and bunnies, along with painting wood decorations. Above all, she truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Gwenn will be dearly missed by her husband of 42 years, Robert Opsal; daughter, Linda (Peter "Mike") Gauer of Poynette; sons, Dan (Jackie) Hinrichs of Reedsburg and Robert Opsal II of Madison; step-children, Steve Opsal of San Diego, Calif., Cindy (Mike) Swanson of Verona and Todd Opsal of Cross Plains; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her twin sister, Gayle McCredie; sister, Jan Lium; many nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was preceded to heaven by her parents; and sons, Bruce and Bill Hinrichs. Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee Street, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, with the Rev. Bernt Tweit presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare Inc, 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, WI. 53711. We wish to thank Gwenns care giver, Tina Miller and the staff at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center for all their wonderful care and support.
