Benny James, Jr.

MADISON-Benny James Jr., age 62, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at home. He was born on Feb. 25, 1949, in Queens, N.Y., the son of Benny James, Sr. and Mattie James. He was a Vietnam veteran and earned a purple heart. Benny is survived by his wife, Peggy (Turner) James; mother, Mattie James; stepfather, Spencer Bryant; son, Benny James Jr. of Fla; daughter, Lydia James of Queens, N.Y.; granddaughters, Trinity and Makayla James of Philadelphia, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and devoted friends in New York and Greensboro, N.C. He was preceded in death by his father, Benny James Sr.; and brother, Charles James. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011, with Pastor Rex presiding.
