Obituary

VERONA-Virginia Bridget Prochaska, age 80, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011. She was born on May 16, 1930, in Dodgeville, the daughter of Leo and Lucile (Carroll) Kreul. She graduated from Highland High School. Virginia was united in marriage to Joseph Prochaska on July 18, 1949 in St. Phillips Catholic Church in Highland. She worked for the Dane County Hospital and Home in Verona until her retirement. Virginia enjoyed fishing on the Mississippi River on their houseboat and traveling. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church of Verona. Virginia is survived by her son, Peter (Bonnie) Prochaska of Fitchburg; grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeffery Prochaska of Fitchburg, Katie Hackbart of Appleton and a son-in-law, Robert (Tammie) Hackbart of Appleton; three sisters, Margaret (Paul) Kelley of Madison, Evelyn (Warren) McQuade of Janesville and Carol Baggot of Wisconsin Dells; a brother, Tom (Jean) Kreul of Madison and many nieces, nephews and sisters and brothers-in-law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Prochaska, her parents, a daughter Connie Hackbart, a sister, Marie Claire Kreul, a brother, William Kreul and a brother-in-law, Ed Baggot. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ANDREW CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 N. Main Street, Verona at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 11, 2011 with Father William Vernon and Monsignor Delbert Schmelzer concelebrating. Burial will follow at St. John Nepomuc Catholic Cemetery, Castle Rock Township, Grant County at 2:45 PM. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg and also on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs at Four Winds Manor, Verona, St. Mary's Hospital and the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center.
