Obituary
OREGON-Pauline R. McMannes, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. She was born on January 24, 1933, in Darlington, the daughter of John and Edith Siegenthaler. Pauline was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles H. McMannes on Jaunary 19, 1952 in Darlington. She thoroughly enjoyed her work with the Wisconsin Dept. of Agriculture, where she was employed for many years. Pauline was a member of People\'s United Methodist Church of Oregon, the Eastern Star and the Oregon Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed a variety of sports having been an avid bowler and golfer and had played women\'s slow pitch softball on one of the founding teams in Oregon. She also enjoyed cake decorating, especially wedding cakes. Pauline was a wonderful, caring and loving mother who truly treasured most the time spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Jan) McMannes of Oregon, Bruce (Deb) McMannes of Stevens Point, Alan McMannes (Amy Smith) of Brooklyn and Brian (Darla) McMannes of Nenana, Alaska; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, three brothers, Keith (Marilyn) Siegenthaler, Orvin (Ruth) Siegenthaler, Robert (Karen) Siegenthaler and two sisters, Elizabeth (Libby) Hanson and Ruth (Jerry) Custis, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Charles McMannes. Funeral services will be held at PEOPLE\'S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 103 Alpine Parkway, Oregon at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 9, 2011 with the Reverend Jon Claude Bartlett presiding. Burial will be in Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.

I've known Pauline as a coworker and friend for the past 11-years. A number of us played cards at lunch daily, and so we have gotten to know her very well. She always spoke of her sons and grandkids with great joy. And she took pride in the fact that many of us, too, called her "Mom".
She obviously loved to cook, and she often treated us to cakes and other home-baked goods. I know I can speak for us all when I say that the biggest treat was simply knowing Pauline and having her as a friend.
My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of this wonderful person. She will be sorely missed by her friends at work, and by all of us who enjoyed playing cards with her at lunch.

To the family of Pauline,
Pauline was a wonderful co-worker and friend. She and I worked together on the annual Halloween party for the Division, where I was under her watchful eye to make sure decorations were well done. I loved how she dressed in colors and sparkle. She was an inspiration to me, and I hope to live as long with as much life as she had.

Dear McMannes Family, We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Pauline was a wonderful family friend and we had recently seen her at the visitation for my mom Joyce Rowe who passed at the end of January. It was great to see her and talk about softball and Miss Oregon. Pauline did so much for so many. Our thoughts are with you. Dear family and friends of Pauline. My (our) prayers and sympathy in the passing of Pauline. I had the pleasure of working with Pauline for one of the Sieg/Friedli family reunions a few years back. She was so loving and helpful. Remember the happy times.
