Rachel M. Barnes

FITCHBURG- Rachel M. Barnes, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at HospiceCare, Inc., in Fitchburg. She was born on August 8, 1932, in Madison, the daughter of Kenneth and Margaret (Barton) Barnes. Rachel was a former catalog model. She was an avid bridge player, loved thrift store shopping and enjoyed sewing for other people. Rachel was very thoughtful and giving. She was very active in her living community. Rachel was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church and a former member of Bethel Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. She took part in the church choir and volunteered in many activities. Rachel is survived by her son, Dave Dewey; grandson, Jeff Dewey; great-granddaughter, Raven; her nieces and nephews, Kristine, Fred (Jeanne), Karl (Jeanie), Peter (Maggie) and Eric Fauerbach and their families; and her feline companion, Angie. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Dewey; and sister, Barbara Fauerbach. Memorial services will be held at ALL SAINTS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2951 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 9, 2011 with the Rev. Richard Johnson presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park at a later date.
