Iola Marene Gullickson

ROCKFORD, ILL./STOUGHTON, WIS.- Iola Marene Gullickson, age 88, passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Nazareth House. She was born on June 10, 1922, in Spring Grove, Minn., the daughter of Guttorm and Clara Otterness. Iola was united in marriage to Grant Gullickson on June 20, 1940. They raised their family in Sun Prairie before moving to Rockford, Ill. Iola worked at the Swedish American Hospital, retiring after 10 years as Special Functions Supervisor of Dietary. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. Iola enjoyed being a homemaker, her specialty being homemade bread and baked goods. Iola is survived by her three children, Anita (Bill) Nicholls of Green Valley, Ariz., Dennis (Julie) Gullickson of Madison, and Philip (Linda) Gullickson Sr. of Stoughton; nine grandchildren, Kim (Kevin) Peterson, Randy (Denise) Kleiboer Jr., Mark (Dena) Gullickson, Jeff (Jennifer) Gullickson, Philip Gullickson Jr., Lyra Gullickson, Lainey Gullickson and Nicole Gullickson; 12 great-grandchildren, Colin, Courtney, Aaron, Andrew, Dylan, Hunter, Madelyn, Mackenzie, Caleb, Sidney, Garrett and Kenny; brothers, Norvin (Phyllis) Otterness and Orville (Bev) Otterness; sister, Connie Austby and former daughter-in-law, Joan Gullickson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grant; two sons, Allen and Tom; son-in-law, Randall Kleiboer Sr., granddaughter, Sam; and brothers, Peter and Glenn Otterness. A memorial service will be held at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 343 Grand Ave., Loves Park, Ill., at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011.
