Obituary

MIDDLETON-Kind, honest, altruistic - just a few of the words that exemplified Carole Louise Vick Carole, 63, died April 1st from complications of pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully at her home in Middleton, surrounded by her family. Carole was born on July 17th, 1947, in Fond du Lac, to Bob and Anna (Kruck) Holzman. She attended Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor's degree in Education. After 8 years as a teacher, she was lucky enough to spend several years at home raising her two children. After sending the kids off to school, she began her second career in biotechnology at Monsanto, where she also organized and led many charitable events and corporate initiatives. Throughout her "amazing race" of life, she enjoyed gardening, photography, travelling the world and spending time with all of her family and friends. Her social calendar was never empty! She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Pete; her son, Jeff; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sherry and Howie, Penny and Bob and Gerianne and Rob; one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Becky; former husband John, and two wild and crazy grandchildren - Jayse (2) and Landon (3 months). A visitation for family and friends will take place from 3:00-5:00pm at Middleton Community Church, 645 Schewe Road, (2 miles West of the Beltline at the corner of Schewe and Old Sauk Roads)Middleton on Thursday, April 7th, followed by a service at 5:00pm and celebration thereafter. Carole wanted to give a special thank you to Dr. Sam Lubner and the staff at the UW Carbone Cancer Center, along with the staff of HospiceCare Inc. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to: UW Carbone Pancreas Research Fund, attn: Kelly Sitkin, 600 Highland Ave, K4/658, Madison, WI 53792. In the words of Carole, "Life is a gift - unwrap it."
