Obituary
Marty, Margaret MayMADISON-Margaret May Marty, age 83, of Madison passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011, at Oak Park Nursing Home. She was born on May 29, 1927, in Madison, the daughter of Bernard and Lottie (Austin) Church. Margaret attended Central High School. She was united in marriage to Leon A. Marty on June 26, 1948, at Italian United Methodist Church in Madison. Margaret was a housewife, mother and childcare provider. She enjoyed crafts and sewing throughout her lifetime. Margaret was involved in Many Circles and church activities at Calvary United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and collecting bells. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Leon Marty; daughters, Diane (Timm) Gould and Kathy (Jon) Chrisler; daughter-in-law, Dawn Marty; grandchildren, Joseph, Nicole (Christopher), Josh (Cynthia), Nick, Andrew (Sara), and Chelsie (Mike); great-grandsons, Eric, Michael and Christian; sister, Virginia Church; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Earl and William; and son, Leon A. Marty Jr. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2011, with the Rev. David Byers-Dent presiding. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2011, and on Thursday, from noon until the time of the service. Memorials may be made in Margaret's name to Monona United Methodist Church or Alzheimer's and Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin. The family wishes to thank the staff at Oak Park Nursing Home for their love and support for the past couple of weeks.
