James Turner

MADISON-James L. Turner, age 83, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011, at HospiceCare in Fitchburg, with his family by his side. As a young man, Jim was a ski jumper with UW Hoofers and the Blackhawk Ski Club. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. Jim owned James L. Turner Construction since 1953. He also loved spending time with his family and friends, boating on the water. Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce; four children, Jill (Don) Cole, Jane (Randall) Tharp, Jack (Beth) Turner, and Julie Turner; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brother, Duane (Donna) Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011. A special thank you to the staff at St. Marys Hospital, Wildwood Clinic, and HospiceCare Inc. for the care they gave Jim.
