Obituary

MADISON - Clarence M. Frydenlund, age 92, a resident of the Madison area his entire life, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 19th, 2011, after a prolonged illness with pneumonia. His loving wife of 72 years, Dorothy, was by his side, embracing his hand until the moment he began his journey into eternal life to be with his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Clarence was born to Carl and Josephine Frydenlund on Sept. 7, 1918, in Madison. Clarence was the second oldest of 12 children. He spent his childhood living in North Leeds and the Madison area. At the age of 18, he first met his lifelong love, Dorothy Simonson, whose family had moved in across the street from his home on Erie Court. He sent his sister to deliver to her a stick of chewing gum in an attempt to meet this beautiful woman. Dorothy graciously accepted it and stopped by to thank him for his kind gesture. At this moment Clarence knew that he would someday marry Dorothy, and two years later, on Sept. 16, 1939, they married and began their life together. Although the passing of Clarence may create a temporary physical separation, their everlasting love will one day bring them together in heaven, where they will spend eternity. Clarence was employed by Gisholt Tool Manufacturing Company from 1936 until 1961. He then started his own plastic manufacturing business from 1961 until 1964. He then joined Air-Lec Industries from 1964 until his retirement in 1980. Clarence's patriotism is to be admired as well as his strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He was an honest, devoted man who was also known for his perfectionism in his work, and whatever projects he was working on; from the building of his own home in 1958,to his hobby of crafting fine writing instruments from wood and plastics in his retirement years. Clarence also authored a book, "Two Legged Squirrels are not an Endangered Species", in 1999. It is an autobiography documenting his life and the people he knew. Clarence is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorothy (Simonson); his brothers, Leonard (Junell) and Morris (Sharon) as well as his three children, Melford (Patricia), Nadine (Manfred Reinhardt) and Richard (Judy); 10 grandchildren, Martha (Herman) Fillinger, Carol (Peter) Doll, Debra (Brandon) Moran, Rose (James) Beveridge, Rita Webber, Thomas (Jacquelyn) Melah, Alfred (Patricia) Bowen, Kent (Marco) Bowen, Tammy (Paul) Johnsrude, and Tracy (Alan) Johnsrude; 25 great-grandchildren, Lars, Erik, Hanna, Colton, Blake, Austin, Brooks, Tiffany, Casey, Jacob, Kelsey, Brook, Christopher, Lexy, Kyle, Nicole, Alfredo, Benjamin, Stephanie, Andrea, RaeAnn, Aaron, Johannes, Anna and Melissa; sister-in-law, Frances Frydenlund; brother-in-law, Robert Girard; and many nieces and nephews. Clarence was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Christine (Barsness) Frydenlund; his father, Carl Adolph Frydenlund; his brothers, Harold, Floyd, Donald and Robert; sisters, Johanna, Janice, Susie, Viola, and Gladys; his grandson, Keith; and great-granddaughter Amanda. Funeral services will be held at GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH, 1801 S. Thompson Drive, Madison at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2011, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Although you will be missed deeply by your family and friends, we are comforted by the fact that you are rejoicing with our Lord Jesus Christ and those who have departed before you. We sincerely love you.
