Bonnie B. Marshall

COTTAGE GROVE-Bonnie Braun Marshall, age 62, of Cottage Grove, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 4, 2011, at St. Marys Hospital. She was born on March 8, 1949, in Whitefish Bay, the daughter of Robert and Jane (Nauman) Braun. Bonnie graduated from Brookfield East High School in 1967. She then went on to study at UW-Oshkosh. She and Fred Marshall would later own and operate Its A Small World gift shop for 10 years on Madisons northeast side. They adopted two children from Chile that meant the world to her. The children went to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and School where Bonnie volunteered for over a decade. Along with a term running the schools PTO, she was on the churchs Senior Ministry committee and was an avid fundraiser for the Senior Youth. In later years, she was the Marketing and Events Director for Americas Best Flowers greenhouse in Cottage Grove. Despite battling breast cancer for the last few years, Bonnie never stopped smiling and would go out of her way to brighten everyones day. Bonnie is survived by her children, Robert Marshall of Chicago and Hannah Marshall of Madison; former husband, Fred Marshall; sister, Robin (Mike) Bradburn and her extended family: Ed and Carol Knapton and all of her co-workers at Americas Best Flowers; special close friends, Marla Eddy, Steve Anderson, Bob Benjamin, her friends from book club and the Fab Four: Tara Gates Talvin, Maureen and Ray Berghoefer and Robin and Gordy Straub. Funeral services will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee Street, Madison, at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011, with the Rev. Mark Bartels presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Above all else, Bonnie was a loving mother, incredible sister and an inspiration to her friends, co-workers and everyone she met on her journey home to heaven.
