Obituary

Langeteig, LaVerne E.VERONA/STOUGHTON-LaVerne E. Langeteig, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Skaalen Retirement and Rehabilitation. She was born on June 2, 1918, in Shickley, Neb., the daughter of George and Alma (Goesch) Mueller. LaVerne was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Shickley, Neb. and graduated from Ong High School. She married Marvin Langeteig on March 23, 1941. During World War II, while Marvin was serving in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific, LaVerne worked as a riveter and later as an air base PBX operator. Her real expertise was as a loving and supportive mother. LaVerne had a life-long relationship with her Savior. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Verona. LaVerne strived, by the grace of God, to live out her life to coincide with what she believed. She was an active volunteer and enjoyed baking, cooking and entertaining her family. LaVerne is survived by her husband of nearly 70 years, Marvin; four children, Marsha (Tom) McKay, Deanne (Greg) Henderson, Alan (Marie) Langeteig and James (Kristi) Langeteig; nine grandchildren;eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Wilma (Marvin) Favinger, and Norma (Robert) Oswald. A memorial service will be held at SKAALEN HOME CHAPEL, 400 N. Morris St., Stoughton, at 1 p.m., on Friday, March 11, 2011. Visitation will be at the chapel from noon until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Skaalen Retirement and Rehabilitation Center, or St. James Lutheran Church.
