Obituary
FITCHBURG James Allen Cox, age 76, passed away in the presence of his loving wife Dyanne (Reinke) on February 22, 2011 in Oro Valley, AZ. He was born on June 26, 1934 in Thornapple Township, WI, the son of Kenneth C. Cox and Bessie Elenor Cox (Rehm).
Jim was a graduate of Oregon High School and University of Texas at El Paso and remained a long time supporter of the University. Jim was a long time member of St. Lukes Church in Middleton and spent time on the church board. He worked for the Wisconsin Farm Bureau in Madison. Starting as an auditor and retiring as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Midwest Livestock. He was instrumental in Farm Bureau growth and operations while there and remained on the board after his retirement. He was also a long time member of the board of The Clearing (Door County). Jim was a member of the Middleton Optimists and Madison Rotary Club over the years. He served in the army as a specialist 2 AAA Radar Crewman at Fort Bliss El Paso TX and was a member of the Army reserve in Wisconsin after three years of active duty and earning the national defense service medal.
Jim loved Door County and spent many vacations there with his family. He also loved golfing and bowling, earning various championships over the years. He and his wife Dyanne of 29 years enjoyed spending winters at their home in AZ.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ken and Bessie Cox and is survived by his wife Dyanne, his children Cathy Duell, Joy Baker (Jim) , Carrie Cox, Christine Corcoran (Paul) Dean Schuman (Christine), Carla Cox, and Cynthia Herbsleb, brothers Kenneth V, William, and Joseph and sisters Jeanne Hardin and Elizabeth Hoversten, grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan), Jaclyn, Kelley, Julie, Kasey, Jennifer, Abigail, Melyn, and Kennedy, great grandchildren, Dominic, Reegan and Lauren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at ST. LUKES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 7337 Hubbard Ave., Middleton at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 10, 2011. Visitation services will be held at GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME 7453 University Ave, MIDDLETON on Wednesday March 9, 2011 from 5PM to 8PM and also on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of the services at the church.
