MADISON Armella Marie (Dohm) Ring, age 81, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011, after a two year battle with Scleroderma at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg, surrounded by her loving family. Armella was born on May 7, 1929, in the Town of Roxbury, the daughter of Ferdinand and Leonora (Walch) Dohm. Armellas family moved to Sun Prairie in 1932. She was united in marriage to Gerald Ring on Aug. 20, 1949. pon graduation from Sun Prairie High School in 1947, she was employed as a stenographer for the secretary of the managing director of Cuna. After two years with Cuna, she transferred to Cuna Mutual Insurance Society and worked in the mail room. She advanced at Cuna Mutual to the underwriting department and then became manager of the Central Transcription Unit until she retired after the birth of her third son, just short of 25 years of service. At the age of 41, Armella began her life of volunteering. Armella put her heart and soul into the Edgewood Campus School and Edgewood High School. She served hot lunches and was editor and typist for the high school newsletter, Edge on the News, for 18 years. She also ran Grannys Kitchen for Edgefest, served on the high school Advisory Council, developed and ran the very successful poinsettia sale in support of the high school hockey team and later for all the athletic teams. She was inducted into the Edgewood High School Athletic Hall of Fame with Gerald in 2001. Because of her husbands position on the board of directors of Cuna Mutual she and her husband traveled extensively worldwide, much of the time attending Credit Union functions. Her favorite places to visit were Bangkok, Thailand and Maui, Hawaii. Armella enjoyed bowling, golf and playing bridge. She bowled in the state tournament for 50 years, and was honored by the by the state bowling association as a Grand Duchess for bowling in the state tournament at the age of 70. Her favorite times were following her sons and grandchildren in their sports and school activities. Armella was very proud of her family. She never missed an activity unless there was a conflict between schedules. Some of her most happy moments were hosting family and friends up north at the lodge and later at the cottage in Eagle River. She hosted the Dohm Family Christmas open house for 29 years, with 70+ attendees. She always made sure Santa came with a gift for all the little ones. She also hosted the Ring Family cookout each summer. Armella is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gerry Ring; and their children, son, Mike (Judy); grandchildren, Andree, Ashley and Aaron; son, Jim (Lora); grandchildren, Michelle, Nicole and Carolyn; son, Joe (Christen); grandchildren, Natalie and Becca. She is also survived by her brothers, Gerard (Char) Dohm, LaVerne (Arlene) Dohm; her sisters Joann (Dave) Reichling, Nita (Don) Hoepker, Rita Pulgin, and Virginia (Dick) Payne; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and former sister-in-law Maggie Dohm. Armella was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Dohm; brother-in-law, Donald Mandt and sister-in-law, Fern Spangler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison,at 11 a.m. on Tuesday March 8, 2011, with Monsignor Charles Schluter officiating. Lunch will follow immediately after the service and burial will follow lunch at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gunderson Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. on Monday March 7, 2011, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. The family wishes to thank the staff at HospiceCare for their supporting and loving care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to HospiceCare, Inc., 5395 E. Cheryl Parkway, Fitchburg, Wi 53711; the All Saints Neighborhood, C/O Catholic Charities, 702 South High Point Road, Madison, WI 53719 or Edgewood High School, 2219 Monroe St., Madison, WI 53711. A friend recently wrote, " you are such a blessing to so many people." To Armellas family and friends, she truly was a blessing.

Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation:
Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, on Monday, March 7, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m., and also at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Service:
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison,at 11 a.m. on Tuesday March 8, 2011, with Monsignor Charles Schluter officiating.

Jerry and family: I spent a short time in your families life shortly after Mike was born and Armella went back to work. She was a lovelyy lady but unfortunately I have not seen her for many years.
