Geraldine A. Hanson

Hanson, Geraldine A. MADISON-Geraldine A. Hanson, age 92, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on April 29, 1918, in Monfort, the daughter of William and Nora Ritchie. Gerry married Harold Hanson, who preceded her in death in 1984. She was a woman of many talents, including upholstery, quilt making, lamp shades and making all her own draperies. Remembering her berry and asparagus picking with all the kids, sister and nephews, sometimes forgetting one along the road. Flowers and gardening were also a life long passion. She was a lifelong member of Burke Lutheran Church on Portage Road. Gerry is survived by her daughter, Genne (Hill) Bankers; sons, Arthur Hill, David (Kathy) Hanson, Keith Hanson and Gary Hanson; sister, Nellie Mae Stormer; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nephews, William (Penny) Thornton, Jack (Donna) Thornton and Dick (Diane) Thornton. Funeral services will be held at BURKE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5720 Portage Road, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, with Pastor Jerry Folk presiding. Lunch will follow. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to HospiceCare Inc. for all their care and concern they showed upon her. Gerry will be missed by all her family, tenants and friends, young and old for her great wit and sharp mind. May she rest in peace and eternal harmony for all joy she brought to everyone around her.
