Gifford, Florence DeloresMADISON - Florence Delores Gifford, age 89, of Madison passed away on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 at Skaalen Nursing and Rehabilitation in Stoughton. She was born on Sept. 7, 1921, in Stoughton, the daughter of Peter J. and Osena (Furland) Munson. Florence lived all but her first year of life in east Madison and graduated from Madison East High School. She was united in marriage to Harvey Eugene Gifford. Florence worked for the State of Wisconsin, Badger Munitions, but her favorite job was providing in-home daycare for around 40 years, affecting the lives of more than 50 children. Florence enjoyed spending time with family, going to garage sales, playing cards and spending time at the East Madison-Monona Coalition of the Aging during the day. She is survived by her sons, Stan C. (Sue) and Larry G. (Judy); and grandson, Brian (Tracy). Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey; and sisters, Alice Smith and Adeline Munson. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, 2011, with Pastor John Ruck presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Memorial contributions can be made to the family.
