Obituary
MADISON- Virginia Fritsch, age 89, of Madison, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011. She was born on Dec. 28, 1921, in Big Bend, Wisconsin, the daughter of Chester and Marjorie (Minnick) Fletcher. Virginia married Robert A. Fritsch on April 26, 1947, at St. Marcus Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. After graduating from Waukesha High School, she attended Carroll College in Waukesha before transferring to St. Francis Hospital Nursing School in Freeport, IL, where she earned her nursing degree. Virginia worked at Milwaukee County Home for Children and Methwick Manor in Cedar Rapids, IA. A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she was a joy to her family and many friends. She was very active in her community, serving as a PEO Sister, Red Cross volunteer, Meals on Wheels volunteer and founder of the Sews & Sews, a womens needlepoint group. Virginia was a current member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Escanaba, MI, where she served in many volunteer roles and sang in the choir. Virginias generous spirit, friendly nature and loving kindness will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Robert; four sons, David (Janet) of Ann Arbor, MI, William (Deborah) of Madison, Richard (Elizabeth) of Washington, DC, and Peter (Lisa) of Petaluma, CA.; five grandchildren; and brothers, William (Shirley) Fletcher of Beaver Dam and Warren (Arlene) Fletcher of Ocean City, NJ. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James (Mary Ann) Fletcher; and sister, Dorothy Fletcher. Funeral services will be held at ST. JAMES EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 S. Main Street, Verona, at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 with the Rev. Kurt Billings presiding. Internment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church or the Alzheimers Alliance,517 N.
