Obituary

MADISON - On Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, Arles D. Wanless, died at the age of 88. A lifelong Wisconsin resident, Arles was born Dec. 5, 1922, in rural Richland County, the son of Clyde and Rose (Pellett) Wanless. In 1942, he married June M. Hibbard. After her death in 1992, he married Mary E. Vinje on June 18, 1994. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and upon returning to Madison founded ERA Refrigeration, Inc. in 1954. He worked until age 84. The family business continues. Arles was a lifetime member of Madison Lodge B.P.O.E. Arles is survived by his wife, Mary; and a son, Richard (Mary); grandchildren, Jayne (Joe), David (Shannon), and Jeff; and two great-grandsons, James and Winston. His extended family includes Marys children, Sr. Marcia, Sr. Patricia, Liz and Tom; his siblings, Clyde, Marilyn and Paul; along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on THURSDAY, Feb. 3, 2011, with the Rev. Ronald Wanlessand Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Arlies family is grateful for the care provided him during his extended illness. We especially want to thank the staff at Oakwood East Meadows and the staff at HospiceCare. Memorials may be designated to Oakwood East in Arlies name. Cemetery: Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation: Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Service: Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 2 p.m. on THURSDAY, Feb. 3, 2011, with the Rev. Ronald Wanless presiding.
