Mael, Matthew William MADISON-Matthew William Mael, age 32, of Madison passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at home. He was born on January 2, 1979 in Waunakee, the son of Kevin and Cynthia (Fosdick) Mael. He was engaged to be married to Nicole Johnson. Matt graduated from Waunakee High School. He was a car enthusiast who enjoyed rebuilding and restoring cars, both old and new. His proudest moment was restoring his grandparents 1951 Ford Victoria for his parents. Matt also enjoyed fast cars and faster motorcycles. He enjoyed his deer hunting weekends and fishing with his dad at the family cabin. Matt loved his animals including his dogs, Simon and Luthor. Matt also enjoyed fine food and cooking, but his favorite activity was a night out with friends. Matt worked at Don Miller West in the Parts Department. Matt is survived by his parents, Kevin and Cynthia; grandmother, Marlene Fosdick; fiancee, Nicole Johnson; aunts and uncles, Laura and Tim Hall, Ed and Janet Fosdick, Joanne and Dan Herfel, Paul and Dawn Fosdick; ESBC, Susie Hall; great aunts and uncles, George and Lorraine Mael; many cousins; and best friends, Richard Schmid and Josh Miller. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clifford Fosdick and Marvin and Ila Mae Mael; great-grandmother, Idella Renninger; great- grandparents, Beatrice Mael and Viola and Lester Showers; best friend, Christopher Kunick; and his beloved English Mastiff, Loki. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL HOME, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, with the Rev. Jerry Amstutz presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Asthma Foundation or any rescue animal organization. Whenever a person was in need, Matt was there to extend a helping hand with an open heart. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
