I remember Nancy as being especially kind to us kids whenever we spent Thanksgiving or other holidays at Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder’s home in Merrill. Even though I was quite young at the time, Nancy made an indelible impression on me for her care of her family and extended family. Even though she became ill with Alzheimer’s, it never makes the loss of so special and so loved a person any easier. My heart especially goes out to her children. I am reminded how short life really is, and how unprepared we all are to face the loss of a parent or close friend. I grieve along with her immediate family. It is now exaggeration to say that the Nancy I remember was a truly classy person who cared deeply for those around her.
I send my prayers to Susie, Cindy, Scott, and Steve as well as her grandchildren. I sadly cannot be there because I work as a caregiver for my mother's cousin Sheila Donoghue, but know that I am there in spirit.
Eric Clapton once wrote a song for the son he lost called “Tears from Heaven” and I imagine that that summarizes the sadness of those left behind. Hopefully, we will all be united one day in the afterlife. In the meantime time, I send my best wishes to her entire family.
With much love,
Michael Anson Schroeder
