Obituary

MADISON- Richard Charles Glesner, age 69, of Madison, died peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010. He was born on Aug. 23, 1941, in Sturgeon Bay, the son of Francis and Charlotte (Schulz) Glesner. Richard married his high school sweetheart, Judith Alice Petersen on Aug. 18, 1962 in Sturgeon Bay. He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School. Richard continued his education at St. Norbert College and was a member of ROTC. After he graduated in 1963, he attended law school at University of Wisconsin- Madison. Richard graduated with Order of the Coif and was admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar Association in 1966. After graduation, he was law examiner to the Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Later he served as senior partner at Ross and Stevens, S.C., then was a partner at Michael Best & Friedrich, LLP. Richard started his own private practice, where he practiced corporate law for more than ten years. He served on the board of directors for Norse Leasing Corp., and the Restoring Hope Transplant House. Richard was an outdoor enthusiast, spending his free time hunting, skiing, golfing, boating and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judi; daughter, Julie (Scott Levihn) of Manitowoc, WI.; son, Rick (Kelly) of Waukesha, WI.; granddaughter Gabrielle and grandson Cole; brother, Norbert (Helen) of Sturgeon Bay, WI. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his two golden retrievers, Tater and Shadow. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline Hwy, Madison, at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, and also after the service there will be time for fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Restoring Hope Transplant House, 7457 Terrace Ave, Middleton, 53562. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the physicians, nurses and staff of the TLC unit at University Hospital. Visitation: Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, and also after the service there will be time for fellowship. Service: A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline Hwy, Madison, at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2010, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding.
