NASHVILLE, TENN./OREGON-Trond Sandvik, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010 at HospiceCare Inc. He was born on Aug. 13, 1931 in Namsos, Norway, the son of Joel and Magna (Aune) Sandvik. Trond taught Art History for several universities in Kentucky before moving on to become the Arts and Education Director at Cheekwood Museum in Nashville, Tenn. In addition, he had an art perspectives radio program, on public radio station WPLN, in which he would discuss art interpretation throughout the United States. Trond enjoyed cooking for friends and the holidays and built on that enjoyment by having his own catering business for several years. He enjoyed traveling to review art, loved reading and all sorts of word play. Trond is survived by his children, Martin (Jo) Sandvik, Christine (Steve) Johnston and their mother, Karin Sandvik; grandchildren, Evan and Taylor Johnston; special friends, Gary Pace and Lin Folk. He was preceded in death by his parents. In keeping with Trond's wishes, no funeral services will be held. The family would like to thank Dr. Kostelyna and the HospiceCare Inc. staff for all their care and support. Memorials may be directed to the family for a fund to be established.
