Laura Joann Peterson-Thruman

MCFARLAND- Laura J. Peterson-Thruman, age 48, of McFarland passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 23, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born on June 30, 1962 in Madison, the daughter of Richard E, and Nancy (Ryan) Peterson. Laura attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School and graduated from Monona Grove High school in 1980. She worked at American Family Insurance in Human Resources for more than 30 years. Laura was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, she enjoyed volleyball, working in her yard, but most of all, Laura enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved being a mom. Laura always put others ahead of herself. She is survived by her daughter, Rachael Thruman of McFarland; father, Richard E. Peterson of Monona; special friend, Billy Winner and his two children, Ajni and Logan Winner of Monona; three brothers, David (Connie) Peterson of Monona; Bruce (Mary) Peterson of Waukesha; Matthew (Brenda) Peterson of McFarland; sister, Beth (Jeremy) Vaske of Sun Prairie; Nephew Jacob Peterson; Nieces, Kaitlyn, Kesley, and Kailey Peterson; and many aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. Laura was preceded in death by her daughter, Krista Thruman in 2005; her mother Nancy in 2005; and her brother Andrew in 1984. Funeral Services will be held at CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH 5306 Main St. McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010 with Father D. Stephen Smith presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, and also 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be made for a fund to be established for Rachaels education. The family would like to express a special Thank You to staff at St. Marys MICU for the care they gave to Laura.
