Obituary

Cuff, Sheldon Gale THE VILLAGES, FLORIDA-Sheldon Gale Cuff, 88, passed away in the presence of his family on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010. He was born on June 23, 1922, in Pardeeville, the son of Oscar and Orpha (Hazlett) Cuff. He resided in Madison, most of his life, and worked for Oscar Mayers (now Kraft Foods) for most of his career, but also created other opportunities for himself such as farming, carpentry, and his own machine shop business. He was a World War II veteran, served in the 94th division of the U.S. Army, and landed on Utah Beach. He was a volunteer for the boy scouts. He spent his last five years in Florida playing shuffleboard and bocce, and was a member of The Villages Honor Guard. He loved all things patriotic and his favorite holiday was the 4th of July. He loved to read and he read the newspaper every day, and at least two books a week. He was proud of his children and grandchildren. He and his beloved wife, Julia (Dover) Cuff, were members of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Club and together they rode to 49 states, Canada and Mexico. Sheldon is survived by his daughter, Marcia (Frank) Murphy of The Villages, Fla.; daughter, Debbie (William) Trapp of Sheridan, Wyo.; daughter, Pamela Cuff of Madison; son, Greg (Susan) Cuff of Madison; 7 grandchildren, Paul, Molly (Reid Hamilton) Murphy and Maeve (Christopher Deichl) Murphy, James (Betsy) Trapp, Christopher Booher, and Matthew and Julia Cuff; great-grandson, James Booher; sister-in-law, Delores Johnson; brothers-in-law, Jerry Dover and Duane Dover. He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia (Dover) Cuff; sisters, Charlotte Marty and Shirley Jameson; brothers in-law, Thomas Dover and Clayton Dover; and sisters in-law, Eleanor Allen (Alden Allen) and Lillian Bush (Leroy Bush). A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2010. Inurnment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice.
