Obituary
VERONA- Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Stackhouse Graham passed away into Gods arms Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at HospiceCare Inc. in Fitchburg. She was born on June 27, 1916, in Cape May Court House, N.J., the daughter of James Archer Stackhouse and Ellen Ulrich Stackhouse. She grew up close to the ocean at Stone Harbor, N.J. and served as a lifeguard there. She received her B.A. at Rutgers University, and then taught music at several high schools in the south where she met her husband of 68 years, William Thomas Graham. Bill is a World War II veteran. They moved to Madison in 1945, where Bill was discharged. They started their family in the trailer camp at Camp Randall. Beth was very active in her christian faith, with her church, and her community. She taught nursery school in Belleville for 21 years. Beth also taught piano to all who wanted to learn, up until a month ago. She was an avid fan of the Monday Night Bluegrass Jam, attending her last one, a week before she passed away. Beth gave her time, love, and knowledge to everyone. She was beloved by her family and all who knew her. Beth is survived by her husband, William Thomas Graham; children, Judith Ellen Graham, Patricia Jane Graham, Robert Thomas Graham (Drucilla), and Susan Malinda Haas; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many who thought of her as grandma and great-grandma. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Archer Stackhouse, Jr.; and sister, Margaret Stackhouse Shaw. Memorial services will be held at MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH, 201 S. Main St., Verona at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, with Reverend Craig Jarvis presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at HospiceCare Inc. for their loving care and comfort. Our thanks as well to Reverend Craig Jarvis, her church family of Memorial Baptist Church, in Verona, and Grace Bible Church, in Madison.
