Theodore L. Schmitz

OREGON/PINE BLUFF- Theodore "Ted" Schmitz, age 66, of Oregon passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at his home. He was born on Nov. 12, 1943, in Madison, the son of Leonard and Irene (Lynch) Schmitz. Ted married Joan Mullarkey on Dec. 4, 1972, in Rockford, Ill. He was a graduate of Mt. Horeb High School in 1961. Ted later graduated from Madison Area Technical College, and served in the U.S. Marines. He retired from the State Department of Public Instruction business offices. Ted was known for his hat collection. He especially enjoyed traveling and golfing with Joan. He is survived by his wife, Joan; mother, Irene Schmitz of Pine Bluff; siblings, Marjorie (Gary) Laufenberg and Ferd (Debbie) Schmitz, both of Mt. Horeb; four nieces and nephews; and brothers-in-law, John Mullarkey and Pat (Pam) Mullarkey, both of Oregon. Ted was preceded in death by his father, Leonard. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, with Chaplain Timothy Jones presiding. A private entombment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
