Obituary

Henry, Phyllis L. MADISON - Phyllis Lorraine Henry, age 93, of Madison passed away under HospiceCare on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at Chamomile Assisted Living II. She was born on Jan. 14, 1917, in Reedsburg, the daughter of Dwight and Myrtie (Vickers) Hudson. Phyllis graduated from Madison East High School in 1934 and cared for her ill mother while she worked at Security Marine Bank. She met her partner in life Richard Henry through a mutual friend and was united in marriage on June 23, 1941. Phyllis then worked at University Hospital as an Administrative Assistant before she started to raise her family. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, involved in many church functions including the choir for over 30 years and also the United Methodist Women. Phyllis also made many lasting friendships with her participation in bridge club and neighborhood gatherings. She was deeply involved in the raising of her two children by participating in the PTA, Brownies, and Cub Scouts serving as a den mother. Phyllis also volunteered for the American Red Cross with her husband Richard, and served as president of the Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Association Auxiliary, a position she held in high esteem. She was an avid Badgers fan, attending several hockey championship games, as well as a Rose Bowl victory! Phyllis loved to sing, enjoyed traveling to the many work related functions with her husband, and was always a strong force behind her family. She was truly the solid woman supporting and helping her husband in his professional career. Phyllis was a very sweet caring person of her genre who always was committed to make sure everyone around her was always comfortable and taken care of. It is very hard to say a bad word about her. Phyllis is survived by her children, Mary Lynn (David) Asmus of Illinois, and David (Julie Nottestad) Henry of Monona; granddaughter, Leah (Andrea) Farris; and great-grandchildren, Luca, Ariella and Liliana Farris. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1996; parents; and brother, Harold Hudson. Funeral services will be held at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 203 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11:30 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Hello, I remember your mom fondly. I worked for the Wisconsin Pharmacist Association. Bob and she came often to the events of the association. She was always so kind. Peace to you all. Mary Kirkpatrick
