Obituary

Schluter, Marion J.\r\n MADISON-Marion J. Schluter, age 88, passed peacefully, surrounded by her family at home on Monday, Nov. 15, 2010. She was born on Oct. 5, 1922, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Arthur and Jennie Andersen. Marion graduated from South Division High School and later worked at Milwaukee Hospital. She was united in marriage to Melvin Schluter of Madison on Feb. 20, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Marion was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison and was active in its Circle and women\'s groups, as well as in the Skaalen Nursing Home in Stoughton, as liaison to the Ladies Auxiliary for 30 years. In addition to being a homemaker and raising their three children, she also did the phone and book work of their livelihood of house building and home carpentry work. During their time together, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with their family. Marion is survived by her husband, Melvin; his daughter, Elaine (Ed) Haas; their son, Gary (Kathy); their daughter, Jean; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Harvey Andersen; sister, Carolyn LeBeck; sister-in-law, Audrey Andersen; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; a brother, Edwin; and brother-in-law, Norman LeBeck. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, with the Rev. Jeff Tomberlin presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity or a charity of the donor\'s choice.
