Noftle, William F. FITCHBURG-William F. Noftle, age 63, of Fitchburg, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at the Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center. He was born on May 9, 1947, in Madison, the son of Samuel and Frieda (Breitenbach) Noftle. Bill married Mary Lou (Hansen) on Aug. 22, 1970 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Madison. They just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Bill graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in business. He spent 30 years in sales. Bill always put the customers' needs first. He was a quiet man but had a wonderful group of friends, old and young, who enjoyed hanging out with him and listening to his silly jokes time and time again. Many of his younger friends adopted him as a second father. Bill enjoyed seeing live bands and dancing with his daughter, Kim, and daughter-in-law, Katie. He also was a master at charcoal grilling. His family always came first in his life. Bill also enjoyed fishing on University Bay, Lake Wingra and Rock Lake. He had a green thumb and planted most of the trees and shrubs in the yard. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Katie Noftle; daughter and son-in-law, Kim Noftle-Blanchet and JP Blanchet; sister and her husband, Susan Ponti and Gary Strong; niece, Kathy Ponti; and nephew and his wife and family, Charles and Kara Ponti. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Patrick Ponti.
