Mary K. Schlimgen,

MONONA - Mary Katherine Schlimgen, age 82, of Monona, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, surrounded by her family. She was born on Oct. 28, 1928, in Highland, the daughter of Walter and Wilhelmina "Billy" Hines. She married Maurice "Moe" Schlimgen on Oct. 8, 1949. She worked at Cuna Mutual prior to raising her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Mary enjoyed golf, her card clubs, and crocheting. She loved to dance, listen to music and enjoyed playing her keyboard. She welcomed everyone with her beautiful smile and wonderful sense of humor. Moe and Mary loved pontooning on the African Queen. Mary is survived by her children, Steve (Carol), Kari (Dan Piorier) Schlimgen, and Chuck (Donna); daughter-in-law, Kathy; eight grand-children; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Marty (Carol) Hines; sister, Maggie (Phil) Lottes; and her dog, Tasha. She was preceded in death by her husband; and son, David. A Celebration of Life will be held at EASTSIDE CLUB, 3735 Monona Drive, Monona, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010. Special thanks to all the wonderful neighbors on Belle Isle, as well as, to the wonderful staff at Heritage and Dr. Lynda Siewert for their special care given to our mom.
