Obituary

OREGON-Robert J. Cuta, age 80, of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010. Born on Sept. 3, 1930, in LaCrosse, the son of Albert and Marion (Havlik) Cuta. Robert served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was a life member of the American Legion. He married the love of his life, Maxine Marsolek on May 17, 1952. As an engineer for Research Products Corp., he held several design patents. Robert was a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He had been a very active member of St. Dennis Catholic Church from 1958 until 1998, where he was a BSA Scout Master. He also served the Four Lakes Council as district commissioner. Robert was past president of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. His priorities were faith and family, a love of the outdoors, and traveling. Friends and family will remember him for his story telling and sense of humor. Robert is survived by his loving wife, Maxine of Oregon; children, Mark (Katherine) Cuta of Missouri and Arizona, Mary (Michael) McNulty of Waunakee, John (Brenda) Cuta of Oregon, and Paul (Kelly) Cuta of Middleton; son-in-law, Joseph Backes of McFarland; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Alberta (Joseph) Gund; and brother, Paul A. (Donna) Cuta, all of LaCrosse. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Jean Backes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, with Father Gary Wankerl and Father William Nolan concelebrating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association, Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church or the parochial school of your choice. The family wishes to thank all the people who have helped Robert and his family over the years.
