Obituary

Towler, Clare B. SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. -Clare B. Towler, 97, of San Francisco, passed away peacefully in her long-time residence of San Francisco Towers on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. She was born in Springfield Corners, Wis., on March 11, 1913, to Anna Mary (Ganser) and Frank J. Ballweg. After graduating from St. Martin's School, she went on to study for, and received, her Licensed Practical Nurse Degree. She practiced her beloved profession for many years in the North Chicago suburban area. Upon marrying Kenneth F. Towler, of Bannockburn, Ill., in November, 1953, they both retired to San Francisco, where they managed real estate and stock holdings. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Colorado. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Francis Cash of Duarte, Calif., Ellen McGregor Grybeck of Bellingham, Wash., and Meg McKenzie of Sacramento, Calif.; in addition to several step-great-grandchildren. Clare was preceded in death by loving husband; six siblings, Theresa Stumpf, Henry Ballweg, Rose Stadelhofer, Bill Ballweg, Edward Ballweg, and Eleanor Maly; as well as, her two step-children, Francis Moonan and Ellen McGregor. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at ST. MARTIN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5959 St. Martin Cir.,Cross Plains, on Friday, Oct. 29,2010, at 11 am, with Father Gene Hollfelder officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 am until the time of services. Burial will be immediately following in the Frank Ballweg Family plot in St. Martin's Cemetery. Special thanks go to the caring and supportive staff at San Francisco Towers where Clare resided for over ten years, and to the wonderfully compassionate staff of Hospice by the Bay, for their unparalleled empathy and attentiveness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clare's memory to Hospice by the Bay or to the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters.
