Madison/Wisconsin Dells-Bernice Shea Loomis, age 94, passed away on Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Oakwood Village West, Madison. She was born on March 24, 1916 in Lena, Wis. the daughter of Edward and Flora (Roller) Shea. Bernice graduated from UW-Madison in 1940. During her college years she sang weekly on WHA Radio. She married Damon W. Loomis on Oct. 12, 1940. Bernice and Damon were proprietors of Birchcliff Resort in Wisconsin Dells for 35 years; a family owned business for 55 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church-United where she sang in the choir, and was one of the original members of the Wisconsin Dells Tuesday Club. Surviving are her 3 children: Roxanne Loomis of Middleton, Laurie (Richard) Walker of NC, Derryn Loomis of Colorado; a sister, Carole Faulkes of West VA; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Damon, in 1997 and a sister, Eylene Schlough. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of your mother. My memory of her was that of a kind, warm person. And that was the best lesson she taught her girls.
