Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE- Stanley A. Selje, age 81, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital. He was born on July 9, 1929, the son of Bert and Gilma (Engeseth) Selje. Stanley was a graduate of Madison East High School, in 1947. He married Margaret Manwaring on Aug. 14, 1954. Stanley proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953, during the Korean Campaign. He worked for Pittsburgh Paint and Glass, Superior Radio Parts, and retired from the State of Wisconsin, as a bridge designer. Stanley was also a clerk for the Township of Cottage Grove for 18 years. He enjoyed camping with the Pewaukee Barrel Rollers, playing horseshoes, fishing, winters in Florida, and spending time with family. Stanley is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marge; children, Terry (Russ) Hanson, Gary Selje, Mark (Pam) Selje, Ron Selje, and Karen (Brent) Hoth; ten grandchildren, Jamie, Lauren, Amanda, Dakota, Sarah, Carlie, Matthew, Tanner, Easton, and Chris (Rachel); two great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Wyatt; sister, Emilie (Brian) Karow; sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson and Rose (George) Powers; and other close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, with theRev. Chris Lee-Thompson presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Military rights will be conducted following the funeral service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday. A memorial will be established at a later date. The family would like to thank the physicians and staff of St. Marys Hospital."Dad, save us a seat at the Big Table." Memorials: A memorial will be established at a later date. I am so sorry for your loss! Stan will live on FOREVER in my HEART! I will remember all of our camping trips together!!! And in the past years of Dad and Moms life, he was a big part! Thank you Stan for being in my LIFE! I love you! May GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU! With thoughts and prayers Dawnie
