Obituary

MADISON- Arlene M. Aide, age 66, passed away after a 16 month courageous battle with small cell lung cancer. She left us with her family by her side on Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Madison. Arlene was born on June 25, 1944, in Highland, the daughter of Ralph and Bernadette (Rose) Eggers. She graduated from Highland High School on May 24, 1962. Arlene was united in marriage to Richard A. Aide on Aug. 29, 1964, in Highland, at St. Philips Church. She had retired from American Family Life Insurance Company on Feb. 19, 2008, where she worked as a dedicated employee and friend for 31 years. Arlene loved being active. She enjoyed bowling, playing co-ed softball and going on her yearly outings with her mother and her sisters. Arlene enjoyed going to the Brewer games with her grandchildren. She loved watching her grandchildren play soccer and going to their school functions. Arlene loved to garden, feed the birds and go to the stock car races. She enjoyed going on road trips to enjoy fall colors and the scenery. Arlene loved doing ceramics and scrapbooking. She loved the holidays and enjoyed the time that she was able to be surrounded by her family. Arlene had a huge heart and was always concerned about the well being of others. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to all. Arlene is survived by her husband of 46 years, Richard; two children, Randy A. Aide of Stoughton and Robin A. (Todd) Schultz of Stoughton; four grandchildren, Stephanie M. Aide, Kayla M. Buckingham, Jenna M. Buckingham and Jacob J. Schultz; her mother, Bernadette D. Eggers of Highland; four sisters, Carolyn (Al) Kent of Highland, Elaine (Ken) Nelson of Sun Prairie, Linda Damon of Waunakee and Jane (Jerry) Kroll of Highland; two brothers, David (Linda) Eggers of Beaver Dam and Jim (Delores) Eggers of Highland; two brothers-in-law, Merle (Butch) Damon of Madison and Dennis (Deno) Kosharek of Highland; step mother-in-law, Janet Aide; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph H. Eggers of Highland; two sisters, Beverly A. (Bev) Damon and Donna C. Kosharek; an infant brother; brother-in-law, Bill H. Damon; mother-in-law, Margaret L. Ellefson; father-in-law, Lavern E. Aide; and step father-in-law, Ed Ellefson.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Avenue, Madison, at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 with Monsignor Michael Hippee presiding. Burial immediately follows the service at Roselawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 1, 2010, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 5th floor nursing staff at St. Marys Hospital for the wonderful care given to Arlene in her stay at the hospital. Cemetery: Burial immediately follows the service at Roselawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arlene was my grandmother, but not only was she my grandmother she was also a friend and a second mom. She is greatly missed each and every day. There are still moments when things are tough to get through but my family and I try to remember the great memories we shared with Arlene. We will always love&miss you grandma, don't worry we keep a close eye on grandpa too for you. Until we meet again grandma, I love you and I hope you keep being my guardian angel.
