Obituary

MADISON-Don was born July 16, 1946, at Madison General Hospital, to Marjorie (Stoflet) and Joseph Engelberger. He died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010. A lifelong resident of Madison, Don attended Randall Grade School (K-6), West Junior High School (7th-9th), East Senior High School (10th-12th), and graduated in 1964. Upon graduation from high school, he worked for Madison Newspapers Inc. until drafted into the U.S. Army, in 1971. Don was stationed in Korea. After his return in 1973, he attended Madison Area Technical College, in computer programming while again working at Madison Newspapers. Don then worked for Famous Footwear, Wisconsin Farm Bureau, American Family Insurance, and St. Dennis School until retirement. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council 4586. Don liked to fish, hunt, play softball, basketball and bowl. He is survived by son, Paul Joseph of Milwaukee; daughter, Pamela Susan (Adam) Guess of Verona; granddaughters, Anna Marie Guess and Natalie Rose Guess; sister, Marcia Scoville of Loveland, Colo.; and special friends, Adrienne Omen and Ken Nicholls. Don was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Neil. A Memorial Mass will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison, at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Full military honors and Knights of Columbus Honor Guard will preside. Pam, I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I used to run into him all the time, but hadn't seen him around for some time. I am sure he will be missed by those who knew him. My sincere condolences. Paul

Paul and Pam - I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. Saint Dennis lost another very dedicated member of the church. My parents were very happy with everything Don helped them with and eventually took over. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. Tom Hewuse
