Gertrude Stoker

MONONA/REESEVILLE/LODI - Gertrude A. Stoker, age 88, was called home on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at the Lodi Good Samaritan Center surrounded by her family. She was born on Oct. 20, 1922, in Ladysmith, the daughter of Peter and Johannah (Groothousen) Strop. Gert married Thomas Stoker on April 11, 1952. Thomas passed in 1987. Gert was a very active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Mononaand Holy Family Catholic Church in Reeseville. She was a Eucharist Minister,assisted with bazaars and making Rosaries. She was always caring for others and would help friends with daily tasks. Gert was a very spiritual woman of great strength. Her family was very important to her, she truly devoted all her time and love to caring for her family. She loved babies and knitting. Gert will be greatly missed by her sons, Jim (Leanne) Stoker of Madison, Jerry (Wendy) Stoker of Madison, and Chuck (Chris) Stoker of Arbor Vitae; five grandchildren, Nicole, Scott, Matthew, Kennan and Ahna; two great-grandchildren, Modi and Vonn; and sister, Ann Zimmerman of Lodi. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter; and her husband, Tom. A Mass of ChristianBurial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield St., Monona, at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, with Father Bart Timmerman presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 until the time of service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Sun Prairie. Memorials may be made to Lodi Good Samaritan Center.
