Obituary

Moldrem, Clifford Robert SUN PRAIRIE-Clifford Robert Moldrem passed away into eternal life on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, where he was reunited with his wife on the day of their 70th wedding anniversary. Clifford married Shirley Bowes on October 23, 1940, she preceded him in death on October 1, 2009. Clifford was born on October 28, 1918 to Robert and Anna (Reed) Moldrem in Crawford County, Freeman Township. Cliff and Shirley moved to Sun Prairie in 1942. Cliff was employed at Koltes Hardware Store, Sun Prairie. He soon entered the U. S. Army, 3rd Infantry Division 7th Army, and spent the next 3 years fighting in World War II. Leaving behind his wife and one year old daughter, Cliff fought in 3 major campaigns-North Africa, Sicily and Italy. Cliff was a Technical Sergeant and was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Oak Leaf Cluster. After the war, Cliff and his wife, Shirley, co-owned Koltes and Moldrem Hardward and Furniture, later becoming Moldrem's Furniture from 1960 to 1999. Cliff was an active member of four different Lutheran churches throughout his life. First his boyhood church where he was baptized and confirmed, Utica Lutheran Church, Crawford County; then Bristol Lutheran and Our Saviors Lutheran, both in Sun Praire; and Burke Lutheran Church in Madison. He enjoyed traveling the U. S. And Canada with his family. Cliff is survived by his children, Linda (Doug) Gooch, Vicki (Larry) Cutler, John (Marjorie) Moldrem; grandchildren, Julie (Bill) Ast, Steven Gooch, Jim (Abbey) Walker, Matthew Cutler, Aaron and Shayne Moldrem; great-grandchildren, Brooke (Timothe) Catlin, Taylor Maki, Drew and Corinne Sharon Walker; great-great-grandchildren, Lilith Maki and Rhea Catlin; son-in-law, Ken Walker; and many nieces and nephews. Cliff was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley; his parents; daughter, Sharon Walker; granddaughter, Jessica Lee Moldrem; five brothers and four sisters. Cliff was a loving and devoted family man. Private funeral services for family members will be held, with military honors, at Roselawn Chapel. There will be no visitation. The family would like to thank St. Mary's Hospital, 8th floor, and HospiceCare for their compassionate care.
