Duane James Brown

COTTAGE GROVE- Duane James Brown, age 79, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Karmenta Nursing Home. He was born on Jan. 1, 1931, in Sparta, the son of Earl Sr. and Flossie Brown. Duane was united in marriage to Jean Kasten on July 17, 1965. He was employed at Central Wisconsin Center for 27 years. Duane belonged to Hope Lutheran Church in McFarland. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening and nature. Duane is survived by his wife, Jean of Cottage Grove; daughters, Katrina (Sean) Stephan of Cottage Grove, Diane (Julius) Miller of Madison, and Theresa (Dave) Thelen of Madison; grandchildren, Josh Stephan, Kyle Stephan, Liam Thelen and Genevieve Thelen; and brothers, Kenneth Brown of Delaware and Earl Brown Jr. of Sparta. Funeral services will be held at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Hwy AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 with the Rev. Chris Lee-Thompson presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Karmenta Nursing and Rehab, the staff at St. Marys Hospital and Dr. Leo Schug for all their loving care.
