Schanke, Scott Michael
FITCHBURG- Scott Michael Schanke, age 17, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at his home, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous two-year battle with Ewing's sarcoma. He was born on March 28, 1993, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Craig Schanke and Judy (Talsky) Meis. Scott was a senior at Madison West High School and was very active at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He enjoyed art, music and just chillin' with his friends. Scott is survived by his father, Craig (Marie) Schanke; mother, Judy (Ron) Meis; brother, Jake Schanke, all of Fitchburg; two step-brothers, Alan and Andy Meis;paternal grandparents, Loyd and Maxine Schanke of Minneapolis, Minn.; maternal grandparents, Rudy and Rose Talsky of Milwaukee; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Rudy Talsky Jr. Funeral services will be held at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH, West Campus, 7291 County Hwy PD, Verona, at 5 p.m., on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 with the Rev. Rodney Hank presiding. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of service at the church on Monday. Scott will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at American Family Children's Hospital, HospiceCare, Inc., and friends at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
